New World Egg*

2007 - Theo Fabergé

New World Egg*

Price: £0.00

Theo Fabergé always appreciated the regard borne towards him and his family by his collectors in USA. This year 2007 was the 500th anniversary of the first occurrence of the word 'America'. The priceless Waldseemüller Map of 1507, now housed in the United States Library of Congress, incorporated for the first time those four magic syllables that have become synonymous with liberty and justice. Here too were depicted the first recorded image of the Americas as a distinct continent, and the first vision of the Far Eastern lands. We witness the discovery of the new worlds to the East and to the West of Europe, driven by fascinated opportunity and by the prospect of commerce.
Theo Fabergé created his NEW WORLD EGG in sterling silver with 18 karat gold, hand spun and polished to perfection. Entirely hand-chased upon it, the Map is laid out in the original configuration; the continents and islands are reproduced faithfully after the 500-year old original. Running rope work to top and base, frames two panels in marine-blue guilloché enamel - the famous technique distinguished by the great Carl - on hand engine-turning.
